Netrakumbh 2025

What is Netrakumbh?

"Kumbh Mela or Kumbha Mela, inscribed on the UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith in which Hindus gather to bathe in a sacred or holy river". It is largest amalgamation of human beings from all strata of socio economic back- grounds and age groups. The legends of Kumbh Mela represent the union of divinity and humanity.

Kumbh Mela is the epitome of self realization: We understand that many brothers and sisters coming to take holy dip in Kumbh are in need of medical facilities but are unable to obtain it due to lack of awareness, economic status and paucity of qualified medical facilities in remote areas of Bharat. Along with many medical needs, eye care is most essential. The above reasons are the leading cause of loss of sight and avoidable blindness.

Our resolve is to extend a helping hand to the needy people by providing them with spectacles after conducting comprehensive and free eye check up with state-of-the-art equipment by qualified ophthalmologists and optometrists. It would be a privilege to serve devotees visiting Kumbh with various eye aidments to empower them to lead a more productive life.

Our vision is that all people across the length and breadth of India no matter where they live, what they do, no matter : what their age, have a right to t access to high quality: preventive measures and affordable treatment for blindness, or visual impairment

    On the auspicious occasion of the upcoming Maha Kumbh, the grand festival of Sanatan Dharma, we are proud to announce the Netra Kumbh-2025, to be held in the sacred city of Prayagraj.  India is home to nearly 5 crore people with various disabilities, of which over 1.25 crore are visually impaired. Many suffer from preventable blindness due to a lack of awareness and inadequate medical facilities. Furthermore, corneal blindness remains a significant issue, with thousands of individuals in need of corneal transplants.  In this sacred setting of Maha Kumbh 2025, we are organizing an exceptional event that goes beyond the spiritual Netra Kumbh-2025, which will provide free eye check-ups, distribution of medicines and spectacles, and eye surgeries. This initiative, aimed at improving public health, is made possible with the collaboration of leading service-oriented organizations such as Saksham, The Hans Foundation, Swami Vivekananda Health Mission, Shri Bhaurao Deoras Trust, Shri Rajju Bhaiya Seva Trust, National Medicos Organization, and Seva Bharti.

Outcome and Impact Analysis of Netra kumbh 2019:

  • 22 Health facilities across in India participated in Netra kumbh.
  • 51 nonstop OPDs everyday.
  • 374 ophthalmologists participated in Netra kumbh.
  • 570 optometrists participated in Netra kumbh.
  • 1,55,210 spectacles distributed.
  • 2,500 Volunteers participated in Netra kumbh.
  • 2,02,020 people screened.
  • 23,560 patients referred to hospitals for further screening.

For its record-breaking statistics Netra Kumbh's name has been registered in the prestigious "Golden Book of Records" under the titles.

  1. World Record for Highest Number of Patients screened free of cost for Eye Ailments in a Temporary Eye Camp-2,02.020.

  2. World Record for Highest Number of Spectacles distributed free of cost in a Temporary Eye Camp-1.55.210.
