PRANAV Center of Excellence

PRANAV Center of Excellence, is a Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS) Program run at the Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad. The UNHS program is the current standard practice to detect hearing loss among children before three months of age and provide appropriate intervention no later than six months of age.

Purpose of PRANAV

  • To undertake Hearing screening of babies from the day of their birth.
  • To diagnose hearing loss by three months of age.
  • To provide appropriate interventions by six months of age ex. Facilitate early rehabilitation devices for children identified with hearing loss.
  • To provide awareness to the community regarding hearing loss.


Unique in spirit and effort this program targets some of the most vulnerable infants admitted in the ICU wing of the Government run Niloufer Hospital. The program has been successfully reaching out to infants from economically weaker families creating an opportunity for early detection and rehabilitation.
